Recently we have been asking our directors, how Covid-19 has affected their area of the business, the impact it has had on their sector and how the team is moving forward.
This week’s article is from Andrew, the Factory Director at Futura Foods Wales.
Andrew said “It is very clear that Covid-19 has had an affect around the world, but with the closure of foodservice outlets in the UK, it has had a major effect on the processes and work available here at the factory. The dramatic downturn has meant some business has stopped or slowed, and the scale of this was not something we were expecting.
We have had to change many ways in which we work. We have had to adapt the working environment to cope with new measures around social distancing, such as wearing face shields whilst working in the factory, temperature checking staff on entrance to the site and implementing even more instances of hand washing or use of hand sanitiser. However I must praise all the staff here at Futura Foods Wales, they have all taken on this challenge well and been positive about the changes being made so that we can keep this factory producing during this uncertain time.
All of us at Futura Foods Wales, in conjunction with all Futura and Nordex sales teams, have also worked incredibly hard to adapt and react quickly to customer demands. Customers have been approaching us with faster expectations, therefore the solutions we present and ways of working have been adapted to accommodate this as best we can. It means we have kept up the standard of service our customers expect and it also means they can, in turn, keep their businesses going.
We do look to the future now things are moving forward and we can also be reflective. Although it will still present its challenges in the future months, Covid-19 has given us time to strengthen our relationships with customers and think more about our social responsibility surrounding our employees and colleagues, which is positive and encouraging.
I am confident that whatever is thrown at us next, we can handle better than ever before.”
