Salad Cheese
A versatile white cheese, great for everyday meals
Salad cheeses are a delightful range of products that share a similar look, feel, and taste to feta, but they don’t carry the specific Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) status.
These cheeses are most often made with cow’s milk, sometimes with a little goat or sheep’s milk, or even cream for an extra touch of flavour. They’re popular in salads – which is exactly how they got their name!
While mostly produced outside of Greece, our group-owned Nordex dairy sites in Denmark are big makers of this adaptable cheese. As your go-to supplier for premium salad cheese, we’ve got a fantastic range of high-quality, specialty varieties, perfect for retail packs, ingredients for food manufacturers, or for a wide array of uses in foodservice.

Taste & Texture
Creamy, mild, and so easy to crumble!
Salad cheese offers a taste that’s a bit like feta, but it’s generally milder, with a gentle tang and a wonderfully creamy flavour that feels soft on your palate. Its texture can range from a light crumble to super smooth and soft, depending on the type.
This milder taste means it’s brilliant for dishes where it can bring a lovely savoury element without overpowering other flavours – imagine it crumbled generously over vibrant, sunshine-filled salads!

How it’s made
Authentically made the Greek way
Making salad cheese isn’t tied to a Protected Designation of Origin (PDO), which gives us more flexibility with ingredients and how we craft it.
It’s often made purely with cow’s milk, which gives it that milder flavour. But, we can also add goat or sheep’s milk or cream to create a richer, more complex taste, just like our YAMAS! Greek Salad Cheese. Like feta, it’s usually brined, which gives it a subtle tangy flavour, but it isn’t aged for the same long time.
