Futura Wins at the International Cheese and Dairy Awards 2022

Futura Foods has swept home with a series of wins at last week’s 2022 International Cheese and Dairy Awards, supporting our market leading portfolio and market positioning as Mediterranean dairy specialists with medals for our Greek, Cypriot, Italian, French, Vegetarian & Blended cheeses! 

Topping the results, YAMAS! Halloumi picked up a Gold Award in the Best Halloumi category before going on to be crowned the category winner of the Corino Trophy for Best Cooking Cheese. The trophy win saw YAMAS! Halloumi fight off competition from products including baked Camembert, specialist cheese on toast slices, as well as plain and flavoured grilling cheeses. The judges’ comments included that the ‘texture was perfect’ and ‘there is a nice squeak with pleasant aftertaste’.

YAMAS! Greek Feta also achieved a Gold Award, being crowned the Best Greek Feta Cheese and completing the YAMAS! awards, our Halloumi with Chilli gained a Silver Award in the Halloumi with additives category.

But that’s not all. A host of other products also took home prizes at this year’s awards.

There were no less than four other Gold Award winners. Our recently launched Grill + Chill brand picked up its first award – the Double Gloucester Onion & Chive Melts winning in the Cheese with Savoury Additives (Onion & Chive) category.

Our continental range also came away with some top prizes. Savourez! French Brie, took home best French Cheese in the non-PDO Brie class, whilst our 20 month matured Grana Padano Riserva also shone through in the Grana Padano PDO class. Our final Gold Award came from our new Quattro Formaggi Grated Mix. This features a fine grated blend of Provolone, Scamorza, Pecorino, and a medium fat hard cheese, that delivers a creamy and slightly nutty flavour. It suitably impressed the judges who awarded it gold in the Grated Cheese class.

Gran Levanto Vegetarian Hard Cheese, which is the prefect vegetarian alternative to Parmesan and Grana Padano, picked up silver in the Best Vegetarian Cheese Class.

Our new Italian cheese brand, RAGAZZI!, achieved a silver in the Branded Retail Prepack Presentation Class, for our Parmigiano Reggiano wedge pack.

Finally, we also picked up a couple of Bronze Awards. Firstly, our Barrel Aged Feta, which is a beautifully provenanced PDO cheese, matured in wooden barrels for a minimum of two months to give it a unique rich flavour, took the award in the Best Greek Soft Cheese class.

Grill + Chill picked up its second award of the day, with the Mexican Inspired Melts winning Bronze in the Cheese on Toast category.
